These great men might as well have been talking about the 2008 Superlight from Santa Cruz, with 100mm of rear wheel travel courtesy of a clean single pivot, placed to deliver compliant and effective suspension with a minimum of fuss. Elegantly crafted in aluminum, the Superlight is light yet stiff, simple but efficient - the epitome of high performance without all the bells and whistles.

Over the years since its introduction, the Heckler has undergone a steady evolution and made a lot of friends along the way. Not wanting to alienate any of those friends, we worked long and hard before pulling the trigger on the latest version of everyone's favorite workhorse. We retained the long-legged, predictable handling, bumped the rear travel up slightly to 150mm, designed the chassis around a 140mm-travel fork (but able to handle 160mm), built it strong with a 15mm diameter pivot axle and gusseted tubing, but kept it light with a 6.4lb frame and shock weight.

Honing the original VPP Blur concept into a racing edge has resulted in the Blur XC. The superlative Virtual Pivot Point suspension still offers over 115mm rear travel.
