Avid Disc Brakes

Avid Elixir 9 Disc Brake

List Price: $225.99
Our Price: $159.99

Rotor size: 160mm
Weight: 358 g. (Front or Rear)

An updated TaperBore design incorporates a new air-trap feature, which prevents potentially trapped air from entering the system, resulting in ridiculously smooth control you can count on. Combining a two-piece caliper and HS1 cross-drilled rotors make the Avid Elixir 9 simultaneously smooth and powerful. The introduction of tool-free reach and contact adjust turns our brakes into your brakes, letting you dial in the perfect feel in under a minute. Carbon levers keep weight in check.

Hint for breaking-in: New disc brake pads require a certain break-in period in order to provide the full brake power. The following procedure has proved oneself: drag braking on a downhill until the brake power noticeably increases. Then let the brake rotor cool out. Afterwards do 20 full stops braking from a medium speed. Attention: the rotors get very hot, do not touch them!

The race-ready Avid BB7 SL mechanical road disc brake takes the proven power and performance of BB7 and dials it up a few notches with its sleek anodizing and weight-saving hardware. The lightweight HS1 rotors and all-titanium hardware saves 25 grams per wheel, so you'll be just as confident on the climbs as you are on the descents. Compatible with road style brake levers, these brakes feature inboard and outboard pad adjustment knobs, rigid 2-piece forged body and tool-free pad replacement. The integrated cable stop prevents routing cable and housing from entering the brake at odd angles, reducing the possibility of cable drag. Includes HS1 rotors, titanium hardware and aluminum-backed organic brake pads.
