The engineers at Mavic worked long and hard to make the Crossmax SLR 29 6-bolt one of the lightest and stiffest 29er wheel options on the market. The secret lies in the spokes. In order to maintain ride characteristics, Mavic employs stronger spokes to maintain wheel stiffness with a larger diameter. Additionally, a wider 23mm external rim width adds overall strength while increasing a tires' contact patch. Rims are machined both on the sidewall and inner diameter to shave weight without compromising strength. Fast rolling ITS-4 hubs use 4 pawls, working 2 by 2, to provide very fast engagement and improved ride dynamics. Complete wheelset weight: 1620 g.
