Since 1986, Merlin Metalworks has been striving to elevate the art of bicycle frame design, setting an industry benchmark for high tech materials and craftsmanship. With Tom Kellogg's creative eye for both form and function, Merlin has become the standard against which other titanium bicycles are measured. Merlin's MTS tubing (Merlin Tube Specification) is custom drawn to stringent tolerances that exceed aerospace requirements for precision and uniformity. Merlin frame builders have mastered the difficult process of working with titanium, taking exceptional pride in the artistic beauty of the signature Merlin weld, a process that has been refined for nearly 20 years and has become an industry hallmark of craftsmanship. And, every Merlin frame is hand polished to create a luxurious finish, another feature that is unmatched in the industry. When you purchase a Merlin bicycle, you will own a performance bike that is feather light, impervious to rust and corrosion, and widely regarded as the strongest and most beautiful in the cycling industry.
MERLIN 4.0.
Merlin Works 4.0 is the culmination of intense research and testing devoted to developing the ultimate XC bike. The front triangle is built with lightweight, durable Merlin MTS titanium tubing and matched with an ICT four bar link suspension system from Ellsworth, guaranteeing 4" of plush travel and a substantive ride quality.
- ICT four-bar linkage technology provides up to 100% pedal power efficiency by aligning the instant center of the linkage on the chain torque line and continually tracking it throughout the range of travel.
- ICT allows pedal power to propel the rider forward without power loss, effectively avoiding the common suspension design flaw that divides pedal input into a wasteful combination of forward and vertical motions.
- ICT-equipped bikes feature 12mm pivot axles and oversized bearings for superior pivot stability and lateral stiffness under power.
