Nicknamed "Il Grillo" (the cricket) for his propensity to attack repeatedly and for his aggressive sprinting style, Paolo Bettini is one of Italy's most adorned champions. Now a member the Belgian Quick Step-Inergetic professional cycling team, Paolo won the gold medal at the 2004 Olympic road race, as well as the 2006 and 2007 World Road Race Championships.
