It's a fact that a double chainring shifts cleaner than a triple, and Sram has now produced a front derailleur made specifically for a double chainring setup. The Sram XX front derailleur has been shaped to access the full range of the cassette with no chain rub. The cage is narrow in the front, to make sure you don't drop your chain, and wider in the back, to prevent chain rub. The cage is also shorter, so it uses less material, making it lighter. Even the clamp was slimmed down to a thin piece of aluminum, shaving weight wherever possible. The addition of a high-tension spring makes shifting incredibly crisp, and it doesn't get sloppy when loaded with mud. Sram claims the XX derailleur will work on nearly any bike, making it even easier for you to go double.
