The Santa Cruz 5010 Carbon is built to serve the most technical backcountry rides, a bike that can handle all riding conditions, and then some, offering plush New Generation VPP suspension in a 27.5"/650b platform. The low bottom bracket height, short chainstays and 130mm of progressive VPP suspension produce a snappy, nimble ride, while the 67 degree head angle and the longer top tube welcomes the use of shorter stems for more precise handling and greater confidence on rapid descents. The new VPP suspension design features a top-tube-mounted, box-section upper link for durability and stiffness, and the lower link rests cleanly out of the way, dramatically improving clearance and minimizing rock strikes. The 5010 uses a one-piece, continuous carbon fiber lay-up, which allows interlocking fibers to wrap between tubes and removes any excess material from the frame, producing lightweight performance. Santa Cruz Bicycles put a lot of emphasis on the performance and ride characteristics of their VPP suspension design, with adjustability of shock rates for individual designs, superb pedaling and bump smoothing characteristics. The new frame has all the trimmings demanded today: new Boost 148x12mm rear thru-axle, molded chainstay protector, ISCG-05 carbon tabs, dropper seatpost internal cable routing, 2 water bottle cage mounts and a 73mm threaded BB for creak-free riding.
