Show Details
A radically redesigned version of the time honored Racing Ralph, Schwalbe took their most successful competition tire, kept the low profile lugs in the middle, and added newly designed 'U-Block' side grips for exceptional traction. The U-block is a high profile lug with a half open serration, which digs in when the bike is put on its side. All this translates into a tire that lets you get up to speed when hammering the flats, and keeps you upright when carving through a corner at speed. The SnakeSkin sidewall guards against abrasion damage, while the specifically shaped and coated tire bead quickly seals on the rim and provides safer seating without the extra weight penalty of true UST tires.

Efficiency was the key principle when designing the XTR M980 10-speed rear derailleur. The derailleur was designed with Shimano's Shadow technology, using a longer swing arm and a tighter spring for crisper shifting when you want it, and less 'ghost shifting' when you don't. This Dyna-Sys rear derailleur will stay in adjustment longer and deliver consistent performance with each ride.

Features
  • Stronger return spring for crisper shifting
  • Longer swing arm for quicker shifting
  • Less chain-slap
  • Capacity : GS 35T, SGS 41T

Shimano SIS-SP41 outer housing and coated stainless steel cable provide super smooth shifting. Includes front and rear shifters.

Brakes
Show Details
Race rated to match the power and control of the XTR M985 Race brake while dropping weight by 40g per wheel, the Shimano XTR M987 XCR disc brake will surpass rider expectations for a lightweight brake. Shimano dropped weight by using a magnesium caliper and master cylinder with a carbon fiber lever blade and titanium fasteners. Underpowered brakes lead to defensive riding technique and, ultimately, to slower lap times. Enter the new XCR Race brake, which encourages racers to attack technical downhill sections with confidence, leaving the competition in the dust. Heat buildup is the enemy of any brake system, but the Shimano XTR M987 XCR disc brakes aluminum-backed brake pads and the industry's first full ceramic caliper piston help to dump heat and maintain consistent power. Each individual brake comes with brake lever, and caliper. Rotors are not included.

Hint for breaking-in: New disc brake pads require a certain break-in period in order to provide the full brake power. The following procedure has proved oneself: drag braking on a downhill until the brake power noticeably increases. Then let the brake rotor cool out. Afterwards do 20 full stops braking from a medium speed. Attention: the rotors get very hot, do not touch them!
